In 1977 I bought what is now known as Classic Traveller, read the rules, and began to referee a group of players. All of us were cadets in a military academy, and (as I remember it) most of us were restricted for various minor infractions. We used 15mm metal figures and pencils (some colored) to detail our worlds.

The game was fun, I created a subsector for use, and later the Spinward Marches came out and we claimed that sector as our own. We played from 1105 right up until the Fifth Frontier War and through the war using rules that we created and markers for each ship.

After graduation we went our seperate ways but kept in touch and occasionally played with our original characters and NPCs. I continued to referee tabletop and online games (using half a dozen different systems), and tried each new Traveller variant that came out ...but ultimately rejected them for Classic Traveller. Forty-five years later I discovered and experimented with Mongoose Traveller. Now at nearly fifty years I rarely use anything but Mongoose Traveller, 2nd edition. As I begin building this website its purpose is to help others enjoy the Traveller...Classic and Mongoose.
