Roup

STARLIT is ordered to deliver cargo (100,000 CR worth of gold and silver) and two passengers to Roup Downport where they will be handed off to Reggie Backswat, a local fishmonger looking to expand his trade.

The bigger man of the two passengers introduced himself as John and acts as security for the short chubby man who introduced himself as Joe.

Unbeknownst to the crew, Reggie is hated by the locals who suspect him of weapons smuggling. One of them (Milt) shoots at Reggie from an upstairs village window into the dusty low-fenced Class C starport compound and misses. Peytor has a military background, spots the sniper, and returns fire immediately with his laser rifle and hits and badly injures Milt. Milts buddy, Phil, was going to shoot out another window, but ducks and runs.

Everyone hides behind Peytor (Joe dragging the gold and silver anti-grav pallet) and eventually a security guard and the Sheriff show up. Peytor identifies himself as a noble (unrelated to Hollister Tukera) and the guard snaps to attention. Attitude is exchanged and eventually statements are taken, the usual suspects are chased, and the ship is allowed to leave. Alan and Josh identify themselves as employees of Tilden and Company (bureaucrat Alan Gunderson and his security agent Josh Ludlow) and express their gratitude on behalf of both Tilden & Company and Duke Hollister Tukera summering on Roup.

Peyton opens the next orders and heads up to Roup Highport (or RVP 1 as it is sarcastically called), picks up Bolivar Hisaki and his 50 tons of weapons and heads for Feri with the new Engineer, Albert Zweistein.They are attacked by a Corsair threatening revenge but get a quick hit with a missile (Hullx2, Computer, Power Plant, Fuel, and Maneuver). Albert calls the Scout Base and four Scout ships eventually rise from the Scout base and comes toward the scene. The pirate loses all interest in fighting, jettisons four 10 ton cargo lots in response to Peytor’s command, and Jumps out. Peytor maneuvers to recover the cargo.
